So my cousin entered the MTC today. This is so exciting because he is the first one on both sides of my cousins to go (he's almost the oldest so its not like there were lots who didnt go). But we are so excited that he is going and setting this great example for all the other boys in the family.
So he flew in yesterday and KC, Kathryn, Owen and I picked him up from the airport and we drove to Texas Roadhouse. That was his pick as the last restaurant before he leaves. We had Kylee and Zach meet us there. It was so much fun jsut spending some time with Derek before he left. He was so nervous/excited. It was just so neat to see him so humble, different than he normally is. It was just great.
**on a random side note, one of the waitresses there was my HS cheer captain Natalie Jones. It was fun to see her again!
So when we got home last night we had Alyssa and Tyler come over so they could see Derek too. Poor Derek had to stay up til 12 midnight last night and then get up super early this morning. We made him get up at 7 so that we could take him over to Tyler. Kc had work and would have had to drop Derek off at the MTC at 7:30am but fortunately Tyler was willing to take him later that day. I made pancakes for a good last breakfast for him (but he was too nervous to really eat) and then we took some pics and then KC and Derek letf.
We didnt get to spend that much time with him but the little time that we did was so much fun. It is so neat to see him all dressed up in his suit and ready for his mission. I am really proud of him and i cant wait to get letters from him and hear about how he's doing.

I agree, I was so neat to see how humble he was. I'm so happy for him, and I'm kind of sad he's gone :( it'll so great for him, I'm excited to get letters from him and hear how he's liking it
