May has come and gone...

I can't believe I didn't get around to blogging at all in May! even with Jack turning 1. Wow I am so behind. So here's a quick update:

So Jack didn't really enjoy his birthday party. We had family and friends over but he cried and cried if I wasn't holding him. KC couldn't even console him. I later decided he was going through a bit of separation anxiety mixed with teething. But he did turn 1! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!

Jack and Papa

See Jack was happy because I was holding him :)

Jack has a milk allergy so we made him a Watermelon Cake instead of a regular cake. He didn't get to eat the delicious cupcakes that the rest of us had.

Owen bonded with "godfather" Trent again. It was like they see each other every day.

This is me and my most favorite neighbor Kim. She has a son Owen's age and daughter Jack's age. Its great for my kids to have friends to play with :)

Owen Drew hopscotch all by himself and even filled in the numbers that he knows how to write. He got all the way to number 10 with out my help

Happy 6th Anniversary to Me and KC!!

The park has become a favorite place of ours. Jack loves the swings!

I'm so glad when daddy comes home!!

Another day at the park. Owen is so good with Jack!

Jack started standing up lots more this month! I accidentally left the fridge open and he came right over and started playing with it :) The next day he had started climbing the stairs out of no where. I had no idea he was even interested in stairs

Jack has started becoming a little bit (only a little) more snugly. I caught him on a snugly day and he actually rested with me in bed. Usually he only wants to crawl around my bed

The handsome Cowles men, KC, Owen, Jack and Papa

KC and Owen at the Cocoa Bean! We went with my family in town, of course, and tried some cup cake flavors that were new to us.

Me and my mom before the left Memorial weekend

Owen would not smile for pictures so I had to bribe him with a marshmallow :)

Another park day. We went to a new park that had a river at it. Throwing rocks was fun but dirty :) Owen ended up soaking wet and had to ride home in the buff since his clothes were yucky.

His attempt at drying his clothes off in the grass

Jack found my bread crumbs and started dusting my pantry with them. It was so cute watching him...but it was really messy.

I just like this picture. Jack was not wanting the food I gave him (apples) but was being really cute about it

Owen and Jax (his buddy) watching a movie at my house. They are so cute together and their favorite activity is Dance Parties!!! Jax even has special "dancing shirts" he wears and lets Owen borrow and they dance to all sorts of fun music

Speaking of dance parties, Owen, Jack and I have started a dinner tradition of watching songs from movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or The Sound of Music, or Mary Poppins or Bye Bye Birdie while I make dinner. It so fun to have Owen ask if he can watch the "read people" songs. And he really likes listening to and dancing to these songs. I love it!

I also read a book this weekend. Its called Eden, by Keary Taylor. And it's another young adult novel. I have decided that all you need to write a young adult novel these days are a female lead, a society that survived the end of the world, and a love triangle. And for kicks, make it a trilogy. Then you'll have a hit novel. I have been thinking back to every book I have read this year and all of them that would fall in the YA category have each of those qualities. So either books are all the same right now or I need to branch out to something else :)

But I did recently finish reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" again for the 3rd time. That is probably my most favorite book of all time! And reading it again this time, I read it much slower so I was able to enjoy every little detail. It was great. And I started going to a book club also that reads much different books than I would have ever chosen so Its fun to get something different each month. Their theme right now is "Culture" so we just read "Mississippi Trial, 1955" about the trial of Emmett Till (that was a real occurrence in 1955) and it was not a book I would have ever chosen to read but it was interesting all the same.

Anyways, that is an update on May. I'll try to be better in June :)
