With KC being gone this week, the boys and I had to find things to keep us busy. I laughed at that because it's not like we normally see KC during the days when he is home, but just the fact that he wasn't coming home at night made the days so much longer. We went to the library twice, did story time there once (Owen loved that!), and went to the Dino Museum. We have been there before so it wasn't really anything new for Owen or Jack but they loved it all the same. It took a good chuck out of our Wednesday.
We walked into the museum and this is in the entry way. Owen turned to me and said "It's not real mom, cuz it died 60 millions of years ago, it's a fossil". I just laughed because it's not like I have directly told him, this is a fossil, and dinosaurs died long ago. He has picked that up from reading books with me.
The first room is the sound discovery room. There are lots of exhibits for kids to experiment with sound. Owen loved this electric drum set. He was hitting the drums while listening to the music and then all the sudden slowed down his tempo. I thought that was odd so I took the headphones and listened to the song he was playing to and it was a slow jazz song. I was impressed with how perceptive of the beat he was.
Owen and Jacked walked around holding hands. The place was mostly empty so I let jack get out and walk, hist first time. But I asked him to hold hands with Owen while they walked.
Jack went up to each exhibit and said "ohhhh" as if this was the most impressive thing he has ever seen.
I had the boys sit next to the just Brontosaurus leg and tried to get a picture of the whole let and their little bodies next too it but I couldn't get the whole leg in the pic. But I suppose we could compare the ginormous foot they are sitting on to their little feet.
This was the Velcro Dino that you get to create. There are different heads, lets, tails and backs that you can put on. The boys spent a lots of time redressing this dino.
The leg was about as tall as Owen. It was fun watching him figure out how to pick it up and put it on the mannequin.
On to the paleontology digs, with the magnetic puzzle pieces. This is Jacks favorite area. He doesn't like walking on the fake sand though. It feels like plastic rock but he wont take one step on to it. He'll just stand at the edge and try to reach as far as he can.
Then he brings the piece over to the wall
Owen found one of the computers they had interspersed through out the path. This one had a table and books next to it so Jack and I sat and looked at books for a moment while Owen figured out how to do a puzzle of the earth. I thought this is a great way for him to learn computer mouse coordination while learning the map of the continents.
This was his face while doing the puzzle. He looks mad but it was really his concentration face.
At the very end of the path there is a sand pit for kids to dig up fossils. Jack, again, won't get near it but Owen loves it! He could have stayed much longer but Jack and I were starving and ready to go. Owen made a few friends while digging though, it was really cute.
KC has been away in beautiful Monterrey California at the Pebble Beach golf tournament with his dad. The pictures have just been beautiful and I'm slightly jealous that he is in just a pretty place while I'm in grey Utah right now. But soon enough it will be a beautiful blossoming Utah. I just need to be patient.

KC in front of one of the holes overlooking the beautiful ocean. I don't care if it's slightly chilly there, at least the sun is out!
Just stunningly beautiful! I told KC I would love to go back there with him sometime. Not only because it's so pretty, because most tournament courses are beautiful, but this is a special tournament where lots of celebs come out to play :)
